Our Story
Built for the people who build reward systems.
Rewardology Academy exists because Total Rewards is one of the most consequential disciplines in HR — and one of the most underserved in terms of practical, accessible, practitioner-level education.
Mission
Expertise shouldn't be expensive.
The best compensation and benefits knowledge has historically lived behind professional certification programmes costing thousands of dollars, or inside the major consulting firms — inaccessible to most of the HR professionals who need it most, especially across Africa and other emerging markets.
Rewardology Academy was built to change that. The majority of content on this platform is free to access, and everything here is built with working professionals in mind — because HR professionals who build equitable, competitive, well-communicated reward systems make workplaces better for thousands of employees, and that work deserves better tools.
Founder's Note
Why I built this.

It started with a message on LinkedIn.
A young HR professional — one of several over the years — reached out asking if I could mentor him in compensation and benefits. He'd looked at my background and wanted to learn. I said yes, the way I usually do. But as more of these requests came in, I noticed a pattern: smart, ambitious HR practitioners, hungry to understand Total Rewards properly, with nowhere good to go.
So, I did what most people do — I went looking. I searched for free, well-structured, comprehensive courses on Total Rewards that I could simply point people to. I couldn't find satisfactory ones. What existed was either locked behind enterprise pricing built for global consultancies, was scattered across forum posts and slide decks, or was simply not designed with emerging market compensation realities in mind.
My first instinct was to build something myself — a PowerPoint deck covering the fundamentals of compensation, benefits, and rewards strategy. But that broke down fast. Walking each person through the same slides, one at a time, wouldn't be a mentoring program — it would be a bottleneck. It wouldn't scale, it wouldn't be immersive, and it would be asking people to learn passively instead of actually building skill.
That's the gap Rewardology Academy was built to close.
I've spent my career inside Total Rewards, and working across HR functions before that. I've sat on both sides of the table: building reward structures in organizations, and fielding the same questions, again and again, from professionals trying to break into or grow within this field. Rewardology Academy is what I wish had existed when I was the one asking.
It's built to be generally free, because the people who need it most often can't access what currently exists. It's built to be gamified and structured into real learning journeys, because reading about compensation theory isn't the same as being able to apply it. And it's designed from the ground up for the realities, data gaps, and talent market of emerging markets — with the ambition to grow into something much bigger.
If you've ever sent a message like that one I received — asking someone to teach you what you couldn't find anywhere else — this is for you.

Audience
Who Rewardology Academy is for.
Rewardology Academy is built for HR generalists growing into specialist roles, C&B analysts building their technical depth, HR managers responsible for pay decisions who want more rigour, and Total Rewards leaders who want a reference platform they can recommend to their teams.
The platform is designed with a particular focus on professionals across Africa and other emerging markets — where Total Rewards expertise is in high demand but where high-quality, context-appropriate learning resources have historically been scarce or prohibitively priced.
Principles
What we believe.
Depth over decoration
Every piece of content here is written for someone making real decisions — not someone preparing for a multiple choice exam. We trade comprehensiveness for depth every time.
Accessibility first
We believe high-quality Total Rewards education should be within reach of every professional. The majority of our content is free to access, and where paid content exists, it is priced to reflect genuine value — not to gate what every practitioner deserves to know.
Context matters
Pay equity in Lagos is not the same as pay equity in London. Rewardology Academy is built with awareness that Total Rewards practice varies significantly by market, sector, and regulatory environment.
Practical, not theoretical
Every framework, model, and concept is taught through the lens of application — what does this look like in a real salary review, a real pay equity audit, a real market pricing exercise?
